Boiling Bank Holiday temperatures saw highs of 24C for social-distancing Brits who swapped lockdown rules for an afternoon at the beach.
Sunday will see the mercury top 21C but the Met Office warned that it will be the last time the UK will feel the heat. Forecasters predict a chilly cold front will bring rain and wind, plunging temperatures to around 14C or lower.
It could be the first of many colder than average summer days, as a 1,500 mile-wide Atlantic ‘cool along’ threatens to make 2020 the coldest summer in five years.
Forecaster Brian Gaze said: "A run-of-the-mill summer would be a shock." While bookies Coral is taking bets, and has cut odds, on summer being cooler than average, with odds on 3/1.
