Volusia sheriff thanks men who helped deputy during traffic stop attack

DELTONA, Fla. – Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood is thanking two men who he says jumped out of their cars to help a deputy who was being attacked during a traffic stop Tuesday.

According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy was traveling eastbound on Howland Boulevard in Deltona when a black Ford F-150 cut across all lanes of traffic and almost hit the deputy’s cruiser.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the truck. Body camera video from the deputy shows the driver, Frank Padilla Velez, got out of his truck and immediately laid down in the road. [TRENDING: Video shows man trying to kidnap Fla.
