Wales could go into full lockdown after Christmas unless rising coronavirus infections are curbed, the First Minister has warned.
Mark Drakeford said the situation was "very serious" as infection rates have soared faster than models predicted after the 17-day firebreak lockdown.
He told a press conference that the virus was "firmly entrenched in so many parts of Wales", with infection rates at very high levels in place like Neath Port Talbot, Blaenau Gwent and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
The First Minister warned that the NHS "will not be able to cope as it is today" if the current levels of coronavirus-related admissions continue in the coming weeks - and there could 2,500 people with coronavirus in hospital by Christmas Day.
