NEW DELHI: The covid-19 pandemic has hit 81% of the world’s workforce and brought in the worst phase of joblessness since World War 2, the International Labour Organisation said on Wednesday.
In India around 400 million are at the risk of being pushed into poverty due to unemployment, it said in a fresh report. The global workforce watchdog indicated that the unemployment scenario is unlikely to improve in the second half of 2020, and estimates working hours during this period to decline by 6.7%, which is equivalent to 195 million full-time workers. “…the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated in terms of intensity and expanded its global reach.
