A small village has made a moving tribute to a WW2 bomber pilot who has died from Covid-19 at the age of 96. Residents put lights in their windows in the South Wales village of Aberthin to mark the tragic passing of John Moore who died from the virus.
One resident said: "We haven't been able to give him the normal send off because of the restrictions on funerals, so we wanted to do something special for him. "He was a much loved member of the local community. "It is so terribly sad that he should have died in this way.
He was quite fit and healthy for his age and I think would have gone on a lot longer. "He was only three years off being 100.
