A Hamilton family welcomed the extension of the shielding period for vulnerable people and is urging everyone to do the same.Living with blood cancer for over four years, Nigel Irwin has been classed in the highest risk category and has been self isolating at home in High Earnock since lockdown measures were introduced, along with wife Jude and 12-year-old son Joshua.But the trio have been in fantastic spirits despite their restrictions, and have placed safety and protecting Nigel before everything else when they learned he would be four times more likely to die from coronavirus if infected.Nigel was diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in November 2015.Joshua has been maturely voicing his family’s stance on shielding.
