Zomato lays off 13% of its workforce, up to 50% pay cut for employees

Food delivery major Zomato announced to reduce 13% of its workforce amid coronavirus lockdown. The novel virus severely affected the business as the hotels and restaurants were forced to shut their doors to mitigate the spread.

The company also proposed a temporary reduction in pay for all the employees, starting from June. Zomato will implement salary cuts up to 50% across its workforce.

In a letter to employees Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal wrote, "I am proposing a temporary reduction in pay for the entire organisation." There’s no going back to the ‘normal’ – all we should focus on is building for the ‘new normal’, he wrote.
