A zoo has compiled a list of animals it may have to slaughter and some could be fed to others, as the coronavirus crisis decimates its funds.
Neumünster Zoo's director Verena Kaspari admitted such an "unpleasant" measure wouldn't even solve the business's cash flow problems - but would prevent the animal's starving. "We've listed the animals we'll have to slaughter first," she told Die Welt.
Many of the animals need huge amounts of fresh food each day, something which is proving difficult with no customers thanks to the lockdown. "If it comes to it, I'll have to euthanise animals, rather than let them starve," she explained.
