Against all hopes, the new Omicron variant means Christmas in Scotland is set to be different again this year. Hopes of the first 'normal' Christmas in two years have been dashed since the new strain was identified just three weeks ago. It's important to note though that Nicola Sturgeon has repeatedly said that Christmas is not 'cancelled'.Rather, Scots have been asked to limit socialising to three households and take rapid lateral flow tests before mixing.Cases of Omicron are spreading exponentially and a raft of new measures have been put in place to slow the spread.
The First Minister announced today that Omicron has overtaken Delta as the dominant variant in Scotland as over 51 per cent of cases are Omicron.
