PHILADELPHIA - Soaking rain and nearby construction are what police believe contributed to a partial rowhome collapse in Point Breeze that left two people with minor injuries.

Emergency responders were called to the 1100 block of South Sydenham Street around 5:30 p.m. for reports of a sidewall collapse. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESPhiladelphia Police Inspector DF Pace told reporters that two men were inside the rowhome at the time of the collapse.

One man was rescued by firefighters and the other slid down the rubble to the street, Pace said. Crews were waiting until the structural integrity of the home was stable enough to go inside and rescue the family's dog.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Delaware State Police say a 16-year-old boy was arrested after bringing a handgun to a Wilmington high school. Police say the school resource officer at John Dickinson High School was notified around 1 p.m. Monday that a student might have a handgun. The trooper escorted the student to an empty classroom and found a 9 mm handgun in his waistband. Police say the student was taken into custody and a computer search revealed that the gun was stolen. The teen is charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile, possession of a weapon in a safe school zone and receiving a stolen firearm.

Police: Man, 47, critically wounded after he was shot multiple times inside East Frankford store
Skyfox over the scene of a shooting in East Frankford where a 47-year-old man was critically injured after he was shot inside a store. EAST FRANKFORD - A 47-year-old man was critically injured during a shooting inside of a store in Philadelphia’s East Frankford neighborhood.The shooting happened inside a discount grocery store on the 4700 block of Frankford Avenue, Wednesday, about 1:45 in the afternoon, according to officials.Responding officers found the 47-year-old victim shot twice, once in the abdomen and once in the back.Medics rushed him to Temple University Hospital where he was placed in critical condition.Officers say they are investigating possible motives for the shooting.
