Colin BarrasAncient Egyptian legends tell of a magical faraway land where intrepid travelers could obtain wondrous products including gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

The Land of Punt—or “God’s land” as the Egyptians occasionally dubbed it—served as the setting for what has been described as the oldest known fantasy story.

Archaeologists are convinced Punt really existed, and now they may have their hands on the first known Puntite treasure: a 3300-year-old baboon skull that may have come from the fabled land.The Egyptians first began to travel to Punt about 4500 years ago and continued to do so for more than 1000 years, according to their hieroglyphic written records.

Frankie Bridge has impressed OK! with her services to mental health this year and as a reward for her honourable work we’ve awarded her as one of our heroes of 2020. Speaking exclusively to OK! about her award she said: “I’m so surprised! I feel like I’ve been talking about mental health for a long time, so it’s so lovely that people are recognising it.This year it’s been more important than ever, so I feel very honoured.” Frankie has been keeping busy during this year’s lockdowns by recording her podcast Open Mind, where she talks to celebrities, including the likes of Tess Daly and Laura Whitmore, about mental health, and said the feedback she gets from her listeners inspires her to keep going.

The engine is relentless—but maybe not so steady: Beginning about 15 million years ago, in the late Miocene epoch, ocean crust production declined by one-third over 10 million years to a slow pace that pretty much continues to today, says Colleen Dalton, a geophysicist at Brown University who presented the work this month at a virtual meeting of the American Geophysical Union.
