Alan Sugar backs down and deletes coronavirus conspiracy tweet after fierce criticism

Lord Alan Sugar has backed down and a deleted coronavirus conspiracy theory tweet from his page after he was accused of sharing "dangerous" and "false" information about the outbreak.

The Apprentice boss, 73, came under fire after he shared a message claiming to be from a Japanese Professor named Dr Tasuku Honjo suggesting Covid-19 did not occur naturally or come from bats but was manufactured in a laboratory.

Many accused him of promoting "fake news" and it promoted a defiant response from the businessman, who tweeted: "I just passed it on.

I didn't write it." He then added: "Looks like, to quite [quote] Donald Trump, that was fake news..." Lord Sugar has now deleted the offending message.
