The Government should hike taxes for the wealthiest to help Britain recover from the economic fall-out of the coronavirus crisis, the shadow chancellor has said.
Anneliese Dodds said it was only right that those with the “broadest shoulders” make a bigger contribution as she called on ministers to urgently step up their support for the faltering economy.
She warned that without an emergency budget to give the national finances a big boost the country faced job losses on a level not seen since the 1980s.
