Appeal to people to socialise responsibly outdoors

Gardaí have appealed to people to show "responsibility" while socialising outdoors this weekend. In a statement, Superintendent Liam Geraghty of the Garda Press Office said people should follow health guidelines by avoiding crowded places and observing social distancing. "Please demonstrate consideration for local residents and businesses and leave our public amenities clean and tidy and park legally and responsibly" he said. "We all have a responsibility to be good citizens".

This weekend's policing plans will be the usual ones for a normal June Bank Holiday Weekend, he said. These will primarily involve high visibility uniform patrols supported by plain-clothes patrols, public order patrols and other specialist units where appropriate and
