Mexican singer and composer Armando Manzanero has passed away following a battle with Covid. The music star was aged 85 when he passed away on Monday after spending almost two weeks in hospital.

Mexican newspaper El Universal reported that the singer had suffered a heart attack while being treated at a hospital in Mexico City.

Armando's manager, Laura Blum, has reportedly stated the singer's death was caused by complications from a kidney problem. Armando was diagnosed with coronavirus on December 17 and hospitalised on December 23 when his condition worsened.

Reports stated he had been placed on a ventilator as he struggled to breathe. On Sunday, the singer's family released a statement stating his lungs were "already fine and the oxygen

Mexican singer, composer Armando Manzanero dies at 85

MEXICO CITY – Mexican ballad singer and composer Armando Manzanero died at the age of 85, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Monday.Manzanero was hospitalized in recent weeks with COVID-19 and at one point was on a ventilator. But his manager, Laura Blum, said he died at a Mexico City hospital of complications from a kidney problem.
