Bolton has recorded another surge in coronavirus cases despite being the model for the Government's latest lockdown measures.

The Greater Manchester town’s infection rate has tipped back over 200 cases per 100,000 people after two weeks in local lockdown.

It still tops list with highest infection rate of anywhere in the country with 209.0 cases per 100,000 people, despite weeks of fresh measures now being used as the basis for Boris Johnson's nationwide restrictions announced today.

For two weeks now, Bolton's pubs and restaurants have been barred from all but takeaway sales, and ordered to close at 10pm each night.
