Wednesday marks six months since Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the coronavirus lockdown and ordered people to stay inside their homes.

And now it appears Britons will live under curbs for at least a year as restrictions are tightened again in a bid to slow a potentially devastating second wave of Covid-19.

As of Tuesday, more than 403,000 people in the UK have tested positive for the virus and more than 41,000 have died, but the true figures are thought to be much higher.

The latest Government data reveals which areas of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have been hit the hardest by Covid-19 , and many of them are currently grappling with a spike in infections that led to local lockdowns.
