Doctors have said a coronavirus patient has "barely enough strength left to breathe" after spending 58 days on a ventilator in hospital.
The 35-year-old female patient at Southampton General Hospital has endured the longest known period in an intensive care unit by any Brit infected with the deadly coronavirus, which has so far killed at least 34,636 people in the UK.
The unidentified patient is still supported by a ventilator, but doctors say she is no longer entirely reliant on one. But the patient has started to communicate and is now able to speak for the first time since being admitted into intensive care.
