Minister of State at the Department of Tourism Brendan Griffin has said it is important that a tourism taskforce is established as quickly as possible.
He told the Dáil that it is also important that the right people are on it, including industry representatives, expertise from agencies and the department.
The minister said plans were well under way within the department to establish the taskforce. He was responding Sinn Féin TD Darren O'Rourke who called for a tourism recovery taskforce to be formed to deal with the fallout of the Covid-19 emergency.
He said the business supports announced by the Government were not ambitious enough. Mr Griffin noted that Tourism Ireland, the body which promotes Ireland as a tourism destination abroad,
