Perth Racecourse has closed its car park to the public after becoming “overwhelmed” with day-trippers driving to the grounds during the coronavirus lockdown.
The parking area just off Stormontfield Road has had temporary fencing set up at its entrance to deter motorists leaving their cars and “unwittingly” blocking the service road currently being used by essential track workers who need “as safe access as possible”.
Bosses at the popular Scone course, which sees thousands of race-goers descend to the tracks every summer, were forced in March to cancel all scheduled races until the end of June due to COVID-19.
