Confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester increases by more than 100 in 24 hours

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Greater Manchester has shot up by more than 100 in the last 24 hours. New figures published by Public Health England show that as of Monday evening, 792 people in the region had been infected - an increased of 112 since Sunday evening.

At least 78 people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for the virus, according to the latest NHS data.

The latest figures, published on Monday, confirms that the UK death toll now stands at 1,415, which is an increase of 187 from yesterday’s total of 1,228.

In England, the number of people who have died after contracting coronavirus is now 1,284, a rise of 159, NHS England said. The patients were aged between 32 and 98 years old
