Another 42 lives have been claimed by coronavirus in Greater Manchester's hospitals. NHS England data released today shows that the region's death toll had risen by 42, bringing the overall total to 592.

The recorded deaths are those of patients who died in hospital after testing positive for the virus. The data includes some cases from last week which have only now been confirmed.

The total number of deaths caused by coronavirus is likely to be much higher. Today, the Office For National Statistics (ONS) published new figures revealing the full scale of the untold deaths in care homes as a result of coronavirus.
