WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - A recent undercover online child predator investigation resulted in the arrest of a dozen suspects in Polk County.Investigators from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Auburndale Police Department, and Winter Haven Police Department worked together on "Operation Child Protector II," which focused on finding those who prey upon children online.The sheriff's office said 12 suspects were arrested for a total of 49 felonies. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a man accused of randomly punching three women on a Philadelphia sidewalk is a suspect in two other similar attacks in the city, including a sexual assault.Chief Inspector Frank Vanore provided an update on the Wednesday night assault that was captured on a neighbor's doorbell camera. Video footage of the assault shows three women - a 27-year-old and two 29-year-olds - walking on the 2900 block of Morris Street when the attacker randomly slugs one of them in the face. When another woman intervenes, the man also slugs her in the face. Video shows the man grab a third woman by the hair and repeatedly hit her in the head. Vanore said the attack left the 29-year-old with a broken nose and the two other women with swollen lips and facial lacerations. Video captured outside a Philadelphia home shows three women casually walking down the sidewalk when an unknown man attacks them without warning.The man is heard on video saying something to the women before he walks away, but it's difficult to hear.

HATFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A shooting involving a police officer is under investigation in Hatfield Township, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney. Authorities say officers were dispatched to the township on Friday morning just after 7:30 a.m. A resident called 911 to report that a man ran through her backyard and was hiding in her neighbor's yard, according to the DA's office. According to authorities, police found the man between two woodpiles and commanded him to come out and show his hands. Officials say the man, 29, did not comply and officers deployed a Taser. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAfter the Taser was used, the man ran toward the police, and he was shot by officers, authorities say. Police say a knife was recovered and aid was immediately rendered to the man who was transported to Grandview Hospital, where he is undergoing surgery. Detectives with the Montgomery County are investigating the shooting, per protocol for shootings involving police, the DA's office says. The names of the man and the officers involved have not been released by authorities. The investigation is active and ongoing.

The number of people being admitted to hospital with Covid-19 in Greater Manchester has almost doubled in the space of a week. There were 251 Covid-related hospital admissions in the week ending June 12, compared to 133 the week before - an increase of 89pc.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Four people have been indicted on dozens of charges in Delaware after an investigation into a series of incidents including stolen cars and shootings. According to the Wilmington Police Department, Kyair Keys, Walike Parham, Markel Richards and Jahmir Morris-Whit collectively face 75 charges for crimes between January 14 and January 22. Of those charges, 63 are felonies, according to police. Police say on January 14 around 3:37 p.m., shots were fired on the 300 block of West 23rd Street, where a daycare with a teacher and three children was struck by gunfire. Authorities say on January 20 around 8:46 p.m., officers heard gunfire on the 1000 block of Lombard Street. When officers arrived, they saw four armed suspects get into a car, according to police. Officials say police began to chase the four suspects and Morris-Whit, 21, was taken into custody while the remaining suspects fled the scene. Two days later on January 22, officers responded to reports of gunshots at a BP gas station on the 200 block of South Heald Street, authorities say.

The Covid-19 burden on acute hospital care has increased considerably, according to the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan.

Delhi recorded 1,323 new Covid cases, while Tamil Nadu logged 552, West Bengal reported 192, and Goa reported 112 on Thursday.  The Nagaland government is monitoring the Covid-19 situation with the number of fresh cases maintaining a rising trend in several parts of the country, an official said on Thursday. At such a time, the Lok Nayak Hospital Director Suresh Kumar has pointed out that only patients who have chronic diseases are getting admitted to hospitals after contracting Covid-19.  He further stated that most of the people who are getting admitted to hospitals have recovered and are showing a trend of getting better.

DETROIT (AP) - The Michigan Supreme Court on Friday rejected a final appeal from sports doctor Larry Nassar, who was sentenced to decades in prison for sexually assaulting gymnasts, including Olympic medalists.The court declined to take the case. Attorneys for Nassar said he was treated unfairly in 2018 and deserved a new hearing, based on vengeful remarks by a judge who called him a "monster" who would "wither" in prison like the wicked witch in "The Wizard of Oz.""I just signed your death warrant," Ingham County Judge Rosemarie Aquilina said of Nassar's 40-year sentence.More than 150 victims spoke or submitted statements during an extraordinary seven-day hearing in Aquilina's court. Nassar pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting gymnasts and other athletes with his hands under the guise of medical treatment for hip and leg injuries.
