Popular ITV soap opera Coronation Street has halted filming for a two-week break while Emmerdale has shut down due to a coronavirus outbreak.

Emmerdale bosses were forced to undergo "intensive cleaning" of the set after certain crew members tested positive for the deadly bug.

A spokesperson for the soap confirmed to OK! online: "We paused filming on Emmerdale last week due to some members of the team testing positive for Covid-19. "We've carried out proper track and trace measures on those cases and undertook intensive cleaning of the production building, whilst reinforcing the health and safety protocols we have in place."
