Two quarantined hotels full of people infected with coronavirus have been using robots to clean rooms and distribute food. Rather than endanger staff by putting them into close contact with infectious patients, Tokyo’s government has employed the artificial intelligence to help out.
At an unveiling ceremony at the Apa Hotel & Resort in the capital’s Sumida Ward, the robots were inspected by city governor Yuriko Koike.
As it was unveiled one of the robots told her: “I pray for your fast recovery.” Ms Koike replied: “Let’s do our best.” The government has started moving asymptomatic patients, or those with light symptoms, into the hotels in order to lower the burden on healthcare workers.
