New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said on Friday that testing would be important to reopening the state and its economy, but stressed the issue at hand is that there is not enough capacity to do the numbers needed for testing.
He said health agencies need to work in a coordinated strategy in order to get testing done at the level that’s needed. Cuomo also issued an executive order directing public and private labs to coordinate with the Department of Health to ensure the “prioritizing of diagnostic testing” for both public health and restarting the economy.
