Brian Vastag, a science reporter, and Beth Mazur, co-founder of the patient advocacy group #MEAction, wrote in a perspective piece for the Washington Post (5/29) about how both of them have become disabled following viral infections.

Vastag and Mazur wrote, “The long-term illnesses that can follow viral infections can be devastating – and are devastatingly common,” including ME/CFS, which can sometimes start after a viral infection.
