The weekly statistics account for all deaths registered in Scotland where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate. They include all suspected and probable cases of the virus in hospitals and so differ from daily figures released by the Scottish Government.
The NRS figures show there were 17 deaths related to coronavirus in week 27 from June 29 to July 5 – a decrease of 18 from the previous week Of those, 46% of COVID-19 deaths registered to date related to deaths in care homes.
