Covid-19: 2,051 cases reported, 56 patients in ICU

The Department of Health has been notified of 2,051 more coronavirus cases. The number of people with the virus being treated in hospital stands at 323, up 16 from yesterday.

There are 56 Covid-19 patients in intensive care, an increase of 1 since yesterday. The latest figures comes as the National Public Health Emergency Team meets today to consider what advice it will give to the Government ahead of the publication of a road map next week on the next phase of reopening sectors.

The Minister for Health has said that the roadmap will consider lifting some current restrictions in the coming weeks with others likely to be delayed until after the expected Covid-peak in four to six weeks time.
