Fifty-four new coronavirus cases have been reported in London-Middlesex, local health officials said Friday in what’s the region’s largest single-day case jump since late January.In addition, the number of previous cases that have screened variant in the region has risen by 18 from the previous day, the largest increase so far.The overall case increase brings the region’s pandemic case tally to 6,772, of which 6,297 have resolved, an increase of seven from the day before.At least 185 deaths have been reported, most recently on March 8.

The region’s first recorded COVID-19-related death occurred one year ago tomorrow.At least 290 cases are listed as being active in the region as of Friday, according to the health unit.London-Middlesex has.

One death and 46 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in London-Middlesex, local health officials reported Tuesday as the region returned to red-control under the province’s restrictions framework.At the same time, the region also saw 22 additional cases screen variant positive, according to the health unit.The region’s pandemic case tally stands at 6,996, of which 6,365 cases have resolved, an increase of 33 from the day before.The number of deaths reported now stands at 187, after the health unit says a COVID-19-related death was reported involving a man in his 80s who was not associated with a long-term care or retirement home.

COVID-19: 57 new cases in London-Middlesex; region moving back into red-control

The London-Middlesex region is moving back into the red-control level of Ontario’s COVID-19 response framework, the province announced Monday.The move will take effect on Tuesday, and comes nearly a month after the region left red-control and entered orange-restrict on March 1.The province says the region’s case rate rose 86 per cent from March 22 to 28 and has been recording an increased rise in variant cases.“The decision was made at the request of the local medical officer of health due to concerning trends in public health indicators in the region,” read a statement from the province.
