Covid-19: Further 984 confirmed cases, 343 in hospital

The Department of Health has been notified of 984 new cases of Covid-19. There are 343 people in hospital with the disease, down six on yesterday.

Of those patients in hospital, 70 are being treated in intensive care, up five. In Northern Ireland, the Department of Health said that two further patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 have died in the last 24 hours.

Another 1,339 cases of the virus were also notified today. As of Wednesday morning, there were 362 Covid-positive patients in hospital, of whom 31 were in intensive care.

A total of 2,539,912 vaccines have been administered in total. The Department of Health also said today that unvaccinated people aged 50 and over are almost four times as likely to die after contracting
