WASHINGTON : A study published in 'BMJ Open Journal' has found that vaccine hesitancy which has been witnessed during the Covid-19 vaccination drive can be related to childhood trauma such as neglect, domestic violence or substance abuse in the family.
The vaccine hesitancy was seen to be three time higher among people who had four or more experiences of childhood trauma. It has often been noticed that childhood adversity is linked to poor mental health.
Some studies have suggested that mistreatment as a child may undermine subsequent trust, including in health and other public services.
Vaccine hesitancy has remained a huge hurdle in the vaccination drive taken up all around the world to fight the deadly novel coronavirus.
