Nicola Sturgeon announced the delay during her latest coronavirus update to the Scottish Parliament. The First Minister revealed that cases of the deadly virus were starting to fall across the country following a surge in cases since lockdown was lifted on August 9.
In the last 24-hour period 16 people died from coronavirus. The latest figures for Scotland showed that 2,370 new cases had also been identified.It brings the death toll since last March – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 8,551.There are currently 1,027 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus with 73 being treated in intensive care.The total number of positive cases since the pandemic started stands at 560,334.
