COVID: MeitY asks social media platforms to remove around 100 fake posts

ANI reported.In view of social media misuse by certain users to spread fake information about COVID situation by using unrelated/old/out of context images/visuals, misinformation about COVID protocols, Ministry of Electronics and IT(MeitY)asked social media platforms to remove around 100 posts, MeitY sources said.It further noted that this decision has been taken to prevent obstructions in fight against the pandemic and escalation of public order due to these posts.With a record single-day rise of 3,49,691 new coronavirus infections, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases climbed to 1,69,60,172, while active cases crossed the 26-lakh mark, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.The death toll increased to 1,92,311 with.
