COVID-19: Quebec’s two cities most affected by pandemic have lower vaccination rates
COVID-19 — Montreal and its northern suburb Laval, Que., — have among the lowest vaccination rates in the province, according to data from Quebec’s public health institute.Experts say those lower rates aren’t surprising: vaccine hesitancy, low trust in government and negative experiences with the health system are all factors that help explain why people in some communities haven’t been as eager as others to get a shot.“It makes sense that we see under-vaccination in these places,” said Laurence Monnais, a medical historian at Université de Montréal who has studied vaccine hesitancy.Only four of the province’s 18 regions have vaccination rates below 60 per cent, according to recent data by Institut national de santé publique du Québec.

The rules could remain in place into early next year even though coronavirus cases have fallen dramatically after a severe winter spike and as more people are vaccinated.Recent U.S.

coronavirus pandemic rail passenger journeys fell to the lowest levels since at least 1872, train usage has begun to creep up again. Before the outbreak passenger numbers were rising every year, which is why transport bosses are keen to develop new technology to help manage the crowds.Graham Richards, director of planning and performance at the Office of Rail and Road, said: "This unprecedented fall in passenger numbers, the lowest annual fall since [records] began, has clearly had an impact on both rail usage and ticketing revenue.“Despite this, recent estimates published by the Department for Transport show that rail usage has recovered to around 45 per cent of pre-Covid levels by the end of May 2021.”But the actual long-term impact of the

Anti-inflammatory drugs may cause weaker immune response to Covid vaccine: Study
New Delhi: Some people who take the drug methotrexate to treat common immune system disorders like rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis may mount a weaker immune response to a COVID-19 vaccine, according to a study.People with immune-mediated inflammatory disorders are typically treated with drugs that reduce inflammation, including methotrexate. The disorders result when the immune system, meant to fight disease and drive healing, is triggered abnormally, which in turn causes inflammation, pain and swelling. The study, published in the journal Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, looked specifically at patients' responses to the Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, which the researchers measured by looking at the antibodies produced in
