David Arquette is set to reprise his role as Sheriff Dewey Riley in the upcoming Scream reboot, it has been announced. Studio Spyglass Media Group said filming on the fifth instalment in the slasher franchise will begin in North Carolina later this year, when safety measures for the coronavirus pandemic are in place.
Arquette, 48, said: “I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new. “Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honouring Wes Craven’s legacy.” Arquette first played small-town police officer Dewey in the original Craven-directed Scream in 1996.
