COVID-19: More Nova Scotians can now reschedule to receive earlier 2nd dose of vaccine
When rescheduling, people can choose a different vaccine for their second dose, but the province recommends people who received a first dose of AstraZeneca get Pfizer or Moderna for their second dose.“This recommendation is based on emerging evidence of a better immune response with an alternate second dose and the risk of rare but serious blood clotting events associated with AstraZeneca,” the province stated.Rescheduling notices for second dose appointments will continue to be sent over the coming weeks.

Yellow is the new orange: Quebec lowers pandemic alert for some regions
Those include Montreal, Quebec City, Laval, Montérégie to the south of Montreal, the Laurentians, Lanaudière, Estrie, Outaouais and parts of Bas-St-Laurent.The change means people from two different households can gather indoors, outdoor team sports can resume, and more people can attend weddings, funerals and religious services.Quebec has reported fewer than 200 COVID-19 cases a day for more than a week, and hospitalizations have been falling steadily in recent weeks.Premier Francois Legault says the province may relax public health measures further in the coming days, but any changes need to be implemented gradually to avoid another bump in cases.

Tesco's new Frankie the Frenchie cake slammed by vets worried about pug health
Tesco's new Frankie the French Bulldog cake has been slammed by vets who say flat-faced dogs shouldn't be used to promote goods.Britain's biggest supermarket has sparked the biggest cake row since M&S accused Aldi of copying their Colin the Caterpillar design.Experts at the British Veterinary Association (BVA) criticised the retail giant for using the pug's face for a cake as the popular breed can suffer breathing difficulties and other health issues. The £11 French Bulldog Cake is part of a range and depicts a Madeira sponge puppy with buttercream, raspberry jam, icing and edible decorations. But Daniella Dos Santos, of the BVA, told the Telegraph that a breed with health problems should not promote goods.

Covid in Scotland LIVE as Boris Johnson 'set to announce extension to June 21 reopening'
Follow all the latest updates on our blog below. A delay to lockdown easing may also help break the link between infections and hospital admissions, a public health professor suggested.Professor Linda Bauld, from the University of Edinburgh, told LBC that the variant first identified in India now accounted for the majority of UK cases, but the death rate among people with this infection was low."You can see amongst people who were infected with this variant, the mortality rate was 0.7%, just 12 people," she said."We think they are all the people who had underlying health conditions and died with Covid, not from Covid necessarily."So the proportion of people in hospital now is half of what it was, if we were in the previous situation in

A top India fund turns against riskier debt after Covid woes
Covid-19 crisis on weaker borrowers is better understood. The level of stress in the economy especially for small- and medium-sized enterprises is still unclear after states locked down to curb the spread of a second virus wave from March, said Dhawal Dalal, who oversees $4.8 billion of debt assets at Edelweiss Mutual Fund. Dalal, who manages one of the best-performing debt funds over the past year, has added only AAA rated corporate notes to his portfolio since March.“As the economy showed signs of recovering after the first Covid-19 wave, we had asked investors to start considering non-AAA corporate bonds" Dalal said in an interview last week.
