At the end of last year Des O’Connor sparked concerns about his health after contracting a stomach bug. However, as he reunited with former colleague Melanie Sykes 10 months later, the 86 year old looked as healthy as ever.

Melanie, who used to present with Des on their Today show, shared an Instagram photo with the TV legend, branding him “my hero”.

The pair were reunited at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking where Des is working on a show with Jimmy Tarbuck. Posing for a few photos together, they both grinned as Melanie wrapped an arm around her long-term friend.

She wrote in the caption shared with her 176k followers: “Me and the most wonderful man in the world. “The one and only Des O’connor.
