A doctor, 75, who came out of retirement to help fight the coronavirus crisis has tragically died of the disease. Dr Anton Sebastianpillai died on Saturday – four days after being admitted to Kingston Hospital in south-west London.
He is thought to be the 13th frontline medic to die from the deadly Covid-19 infection in the UK. A spokesman for Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: "It is with great sadness that I confirm the death of a consultant geriatrician who was part of the team. "Dr Anton Sebastianpillai died on Saturday April 4, 2020, having been cared for in the hospital's intensive care unit since March 31."
