Rashes can be a more reliable telltale sign of coronavirus than a fever or cough, particularly in children, researchers have warned.
King's College London experts operating the Covid Symptom Tracker app, now want rashes added to the official symptom list and have identified eight different types.
It comes after a reported increase in app users flagging up skin conditions, with nine percent of those who test positive having rashes on their bodies, fingers or toes.
Data also suggests rashes are twice as common in kids as adults and can appear prior, during and after other virus symptoms - sometimes weeks apart.
