PHILADELPHIA - Montgomery County officials say calls for domestic violence are up due to the coronavirus pandemic forcing people inside their homes indefinitely.
The District Attorney's Office examined calls from January to April of 2019 and compared them to calls so far in 2020. The results reportedly showed an 8 to 9 percent increase in domestic disputes. "That disturbing message needs to be shared along with the fact that police are still responding and there is still help available to victims, with agencies in Montgomery County still working to help domestic violence victims, as well as victims of other crimes," the District Attorney's Office said.
