Motorists are still jumping in their cars to make non-essential journeys during the bank holiday weekend with the popular Lake District in their sights despite it being closed during the lockdown.
Cumbria Police have revealed several examples of violating motorists with the message: "Lockdown is still on. The Lake District is still closed." On Saturday a driver was stopped as he attempted to drive from Manchester to Dundee so he could buy a puppy.
