Droylsden football club have resigned from the Northern Premier League due the financial strain of the coronavirus pandemic.

Announcing the decision in a statement, The Division One team said they will also not take part in any cup competitions this season.Club manager, Dave Pace, described the decision to resign from the league, as the 'most difficult' he had ever had to make.In a letter addressed to the Northern Premier League Chairman, Mr Pace said the disruption caused by Covid-19 had left him with no alternative but to suspend play.The club, nicknamed 'The Bloods' was founded in 1982 and holds 5,000 fans at the Butcher's Arms Ground in Droylsden.But due to lockdown restrictions imposed in March, the ground has not been able to welcome.
