Nicola Sturgeon has hinted that the wearing of face coverings in Scotland could soon become mandatory in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The First Minister recently told Scots that she ‘strongly encourages people’ to wear them when visiting shops. The UK Government have announced that face coverings will become mandatory in England for those using public transport services from June 15.
Bus, rail, tram and ferry operators in England will now be able to refuse travel or issue fines to those who fail to wear any face covering.Scotland is yet to follow the same route on legislation south of the border.
Currently, the Scottish Government recommends wearing face coverings in public in "limited circumstances". However, Sturgeon revealed.
