Motoring experts have raised concerns over the number of dangerous cars on the road due to the six-month extension to MOT tests.

The UK Government announced earlier this year that drivers whose cars are due for their annual test on or after March 30 would be eligible for the additional time amid the coronavirus pandemic.

RAC Approved Garages spoke to some 2,200 drivers for a study which revealed that 14 per cent of them will make full use of the scheme.Around 83% of those people say they are confident in the roadworthiness of their vehicle.

Some leading figures in the motoring industry have called for the extension scheme to be scraped due to fears over an increased number of unroadworthy cars on the road.
