A first-time mum gave birth in the bereavement room after contracting coronavirus. The 'magic' IVF baby was delivered in the unit usually reserved for stillbirths while mum, Claire Trusson, suffered with the life-threatening bug.
The 37-year-old fell pregnant after struggling to start a family for two years with her husband, Murray Mitchell, 33. Claire started to experience "cold" symptoms just weeks before she was due to give birth and was forced to isolate.
She then started experiencing contractions and was taken to hospital. Medics had to put her in the most isolated room on the ward to keep her away from all others - which turned out to be the bereavement delivery room.
