PHILADELPHIA - Prosecutors in Mercer County say a 3-year-old died Wednesday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.Authorities were called to a property on Princeton Avenue in Trenton for reports of a child suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 3-year-old was pronounced dead at Capital Health Hospital, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office. A firearm was recovered at the scene and authorities say there is no threat to the public. No arrests were immediately reported, but authorities have launched an investigation to discover how the child got their hands on a firearm.Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora called the child's death a "horrific act" that "calls to mind the senselessness of gun deaths and innocent children in harm’s way."

JEANNETTE, Pa. - Police are seeking a man in connection with a shooting that killed a woman and injured four other people at a western Pennsylvania home, authorities said.The Westmoreland County coroner and district attorney said Brianna Lartz, 25, was killed in the gunfire Friday evening at a Jeannette home.Officials said four other people brought to hospitals were expected to survive their injuries. That fire started just after midnight Friday and was burning toward 40 homes before crews managed to move the blaze away from the structures. Residents weren’t evacuated but were protected within their homes, some using garden hoses to help as crews worked in the backyards to conduct backfires and burnout operations, officials said.Last week crews stifled a wildfire that burned 5,000 acres in Bass River State Forest which stretches across Ocean and Burlington counties in the Pinelands.
