A former soldier battered a woman and threatened to set her on fire.Thomas Daly, who served in the army for seven years, attacked and humiliated his victim at an address in Alexandria while high on a cocktail of drink and drugs.Paisley Sheriff Court heard Daly, 31, barged into the property and rained punches on her, pulled her by the hair, stuffed a can of cola in her mouth, smashed her with a wooden cot stand, threatened to set her ablaze and kill her.Procurator fiscal depute Pamela Brady told the court Daly turned up uninvited early on the morning of March 25 and complained the woman had been ignoring his phone calls.She said he began slapping her on the face and said: “Don’t ever ignore your phone to me again.“It will be the last thing
