Gatehouse of Fleet youngsters encouraged to plant sunflowers to bloom just as coronavirus ends

Gatehouse youngsters are being encouraged to plant sunflower seeds in the hope that they will be in full bloom just as the Covid-19 virus withers away.The seeds are contained in children’s activity packs being distributed by The Gatehouse Bunker (TGB).The community action group’s base at No.1 High Street has been a hub of activity since the coronavirus lockdown began.Co-ordinator Sara-leigh Cain said: “We put in some sunflower seeds so the children can start a sunflower growing competition.“We are encouraging contestants to take photos of of their sunflowers as they grow.“We will have prizes for different age categories later on in the summer.”Other items in the activity packs include books, notepads, toys, pencils, sweets and silly putty.“
