Gordon Ramsay has risked sparking anger over plans to use taxpayer money to pay sacked staff the funds due for their notice period.
According to The Sun on Sunday, the 53-year-old TV chef is planning to use the government’s furlough scheme to pay off a number of staff he has fired.
And the famously fiery tempered star has added insult to injury by telling those staff he is letting go that they are welcome to apply for lower-paid jobs within his business empire.
Gordon’s companies have axed a reported 500 workers at a number of restaurants and pubs after they were forced to close their doors due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown measures that were introduced in March.
